Elias Sanbar

Elias Sanbar was born in Haifa in 1947 and forced into exile in Beirut with his family in 1948. He is one of the leading intellectual figures of the Palestinian national movement and served as Palestine’s ambassador to UNESCO. In addition to being a historian and essayist, Sanbar is recognized for translating the poetry of Mahmoud Darwish into French.
